Afghanistan: Humanitarian workers at forefront of fight against Covid-19

An unprecedented humanitarian disaster is brewing in Afghanistan, according to several international and local NGOs, as Covid-19 spreads fast among the population. According to a recent study, a third of the residents of the capital Kabul have already been contaminated. The country has been at war for 40 years and suffers from an extremely fragile health system. Humanitarian aid groups have had to adapt and are more than ever mobilised to assist the most vulnerable in areas where access to information – and healthcare – is limited.
